“The Diplomacy of Ismail Kemal Bey Vlora – internal rivalries in Albania and the road to independence 1912–1913”
by Prof. Dr. Eqrem M. Zenelaj
About the book
How did 28 November 1912 come about? Some 200 previously unknown documents retell the story of Albanian independence.
Drawing on Austro-Hungarian, Italian and Ottoman archival sources, Prof. Dr. Eqrem M. Zenelaj traces the diplomacy of Ismail Kemal Bey Vlora – and the internal rivalries on the road to independence. Among them: a declaration of independence from Durrës found in the Vienna State Archives, the 1903 memorandum to the Great Powers and the 1909 appeal to the nation from Rome.
Complemented by the genealogies of the Vlora and Toptani families and photographs of notables from the four vilayets. Presented in Prishtina, Prizren and at the University of Shkodra.
